British novelist, playwright and poet William Golding felt it was pointless for women to fight for equal rights as men. One of his famous quotes reads, “I think women are foolish to pretend they are equal to men; they are far superior and always have been.” However, such statements have rarely reflected social behaviour and the road to vanishing differences and discrimination between the two sexes is long and tedious.
