Veere Di Wedding is a story of four grown-up girls who have chosen to live life with their own set of regulations. The movie Veere Di Wedding is a bold, blunt and critical movie seen in a while now. The most amazing thing about Veere Di Wedding is the aura that these best friends share. They are like any other four girls who are young and successful and who are willing to live their lives on their own terms no matter what it takes.

It all starts with the four girls Kalindi (Kareena Kapoor), Avni (Sonam Kapoor), Sakshi (Swara Bhaskar) and Meera (Shikha Talsania) who have been together since childhood and part ways in their lives either because of marriage or to study abroad or to focus on their respective careers. When something-not-in-the-cards situation happens and Kalindi decides to get married, then there is the typical extravagant Delhi wedding. All these girls know what they’re looking at and what they want. Kalindi doesn’t wishes to be married but agrees anyway because she’s in love. Sakshi is a fierce, wealthy audacious girl who is currently struggling with a divorce. She likes to drink neat and smoke and not give a damn about it. Meera is married with a child and she really wants to break free from her responsibilities just for once. And last is Avni who’s a divorce lawyer and the irony is that she desperately wants to get married.

Kalindi is the protagonist in the midst of all that is happening around and along with her the intricacies of other characters discloses. Kareena Kapoor as Kalindi is wonderful. The moment when she’s proposed she doesn’t know how to react, especially when marriage is not on the books, that’s most of us these days. Sonam Kapoor as Avni plays maxes her role as ready-to-get hitched divorce lawyer. Swara Bhaskar’s unflinching character is just perfect! And lastly Shikha Talsania as the dissatisfied mother brings out some funny moments to the film.

The other thing this movie sheds light is on the Big-fat-Indian-weddings especially in Delhi. Delhiites are so keen on having the showsha in their weddings that even if they might be broke; they will do everything in their might to be a part of the ‘3-4 crore ki shaadi’ club. Even if it comes down to beg-borrow-steal!

Overall Veere Di Wedding is about liberating the women and telling them it is okay to make mistakes and they shouldn’t be guilty about it especially if there’s nothing that can be done! This movie also sheds light on ‘marriage’, it’s not a walkover and it requires a lot of work. And the best part is that girls in the movie are honest with each other and speak the truth even though it might burn. That’s the beauty of Veeres.

The song Laaj Sharam, I’m pretty sure will be the anthem for a lot of girls from now on!
