Don’t miss the Quarantine International Film Festival, which is an online film festival presented by Preksha Trust, and organized by Rolexplore Studios. 

According to Shyam Kishore, Festival Director, it is on YouTube from 26th to 28th June 2020. 

As the name goes, ‘quarantine’ is a restriction on the movement of people and goods, which is intended to prevent the spread of COVID-19. It is often used in connection to disease and illness, preventing movement of those who may have been exposed to a communicable disease, but may not have confirmed medical diagnosis. 

QIFF is the first online film festival, which is specifically helping independent filmmakers be visible through the digital media and the worldwide web. 

The idea for QIFF originated because of the boredom imposed by the lockdown. And also out of concern for fellow artists and creators who were feeling anxious because of staying at home indefinitely. That's why the idea of stay-home filmmaking. 

“Many around us don’t have a lot to do during lockdown. Several actors and directors have been going through a difficult phase, both with work and mentally. This was a way to encourage them and make them come out and create something, also to divert their minds from the darkness that the lockdown brought upon everyone,” says Shyam Kishore, Festival Director QIFF 2020. 

Then Shyam Kishore, the director of QIFF, put together a team, jury and other people. He says he was fortunate to get everyone easily.  

Going on the philosophy of silence and stillness the central themes of the films invited to participate are: 

Quarantine – Isolation – Lockdown - Social Distancing - and life around them.    

Festival Theme & Categories:

The effect of quarantine on Human relations, Values, emotions, behaviors, faith, habits, environment, changing perspectives and topic around them. The festival encourages people to make films at home and submit them online. The films will premiere on our YouTube channel. So in this festival there will be no real meetings, everything will be done online. 

The jury includes filmmakers Anwar Jamal, Avinash Das and Vinta Nanda. The Advisory Board consists of  filmmaker Hansal Mehta and poet Ashok Lal.
